What can you bring to Switzerland?
What customs allows on arrival, item by item, and what can travel in the cabin or the hold. Every rule cites its official source and the date we read it.

On the aircraft
Checked baggage only, not through cabin screening
A blade over 6 cm, and any screwdriver or pointed tool, is refused at cabin screening. In the hold it is fine.

Cosmetics and toiletries
Creams and skincareAllowed with limits
The staple of the France–Maghreb corridor. In the cabin the 100 ml rule applies per container; in the hold it does not, which is where most of it should go.
On the aircraft

Allowed with limits
Goods up to CHF 150 per person per day are free of VAT. Above that, VAT is due on the total value.
PerfumeAllowed with limits
Carried within the toiletry allowance: 0.5 L per bottle, 2 L in total. In the cabin the 100 ml rule applies on top, so a large bottle travels in the hold.

At customs

Liquids over 100 mlAllowed with limits
Not a category so much as a threshold. Anything liquid above 100 ml has to travel in the hold, whatever it is.
On the aircraft
Checked baggage only, not through cabin screening
In the cabin, containers of 100 ml maximum, all inside one transparent resealable bag of 1 L. One bag per passenger. Anything larger goes in the hold.
At customs

Fine for your own use, and exempt from the liquids rule when you can justify the need. Keep it in its box with the leaflet.
On the aircraft
Cabin or hold
Medicine and baby food are exempt from the 100 ml rule, for the outbound trip, the stay and the return, with a prescription or an obvious need.

Alcohol, tobacco, dangerous goods
AlcoholAllowed with limits
The two layers stack: 5 L maximum in transit between 24% and 70% by volume, 1 L of spirits at customs. That allowance is the traveller’s, not the recipient’s.
On the aircraft
Cabin or hold

At customs
Allowed with limits
5 L of drinks up to 18% vol. and 1 L over 18% vol., from age 17.
TobaccoAllowed with limits
Allowed within the traveller’s own allowance: 200 cigarettes, not cumulative. The allowance is personal — beyond it, customs treats it as a commercial import.
On the aircraft
Cabin or hold
At customs
Allowed with limits
A single allowance for tobacco and vaping, one of: 250 cigarettes, cigars or nicotine cartridges, 250 g of other tobacco products, 250 ml of nicotine liquid or 25 disposable e-cigarettes. From age 17.
Lighters and matchesNot allowed
One, on your person, in neither bag. Which makes it impossible to carry for someone else, and Colia does not accept it.
On the aircraft
On your person only, in neither bag
One small lighter or one packet of safety matches, carried on your person. Neither bag. Lighter fuel and refills are banned everywhere.
At customs
Generally allowed
